Ipod Shuffle Help!?

ok ummm
i just got an ipod shuffle
and i hve no idea how to put songs in it
it says in the instructions that plug into ur comp
and charge and the setup thingy should appear but its not appearin and its been chargin for like so many hours and its not even fully charged yet
and i put a song into it and it wont play
can anyone tell me what to do please
why wont the setup thing come up :S

I never got iTunes to work with my Shuffle either. I had to download Winamp or Songbird to load music into my Shuffle. It did the trick.
