Ipod Touch 8gb 2nd Generation

Dilemma: iPod Touch 16GB iPod or 1st generation touch 2nd generation 8gb for the same price – what would you buy?

I am looking to buy an iPod touch and can get hold of a 1st generation 16GB touch for the same price as a way of 2nd generation 8GB. Is there a big advantage with the new generation I would be missing if I have the old one? I mostly listen to music, but I want to e-mail, contacts, etc. and the maps look really useful. Not so much on video.

There really is a difference. The Gen 2 has only one external speaker, is a bit thinner, and has a knob for volume control, except those who do not ^ _ ^
