What kind of iPod casing should I use/buy? It’s for the 2nd Generation Classic..?

Alright, so I’ve been saving up for a new 2nd Generation iPod Classic, black, 120GB. it’s 249.00. A friend of mine has the iPod Touch, where the back, the silver metal thing, is really scratched up. He’s been using a black silicone casing. Are those good for protection of a Classic also? Or are Plastic cases more durable and less likely to get the iPod scratched?
Or, can you tell me some cases that are horrible, or ones that are excellent to use. I REALLY don’t want any scratches on the back… because if it DOES, it’s pretty noticeable and horrific.
Also, which iPod to GET? I really want the Classic for the amount of music, or should I get the Touch for the sexiness? Or the iPod Chromes for the cuteness?
