do apple inear headphones work with voice control on ipod touch 3rd gen 8gb?

hi i got an 8gb ipod touch for christmas when i wanted the 32gb. the 8gb does not have a mic. so can i use the apple headphones with a mic with voice control.

If you go to the Apple online store it will tell you if the headphones + mic are compatible and do the voice control. In addition, you can EMAIL/ASK the website.

If you need urgent advice now however you should go to your local Apple store and take the products with you and show them. There is no point buying a product online if you are not sure it will work.
